Bihar Civil Judge recruitment is conducted by the Bihar Public Service commission(BPSC). This recruitment is comprised of three distinct stages: the Preliminary Examination, the Main Examination ,and the Interview. Each of these stages has its own specific syllabus .
PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
The Bihar Judicial Service preliminary examination has two papers:
Paper-1 General Studies/General Knowledge – 100 marks
Paper-2 Law- 150 marks
Paper 1
- General Knowledge including Current Affairs
- Elementary General Science
Paper 2
- Law of Evidence and Procedure
- Constitutional and Administrative Law of India
- Hindu Law and Muhammadan Law
- Law of Transfer of Property, Principles of Equity, Law of Trust and Specific Relief Act
- Law of Contracts and Torts
- Commercial Law
MAINS EXAMMINATION
There are five Compulsory Papers , of which Hindi and English are of qualifying nature.
- General Knowledge including Current Affairs – 150 marks
- Elementary General Science – 100 marks
- General Hindi – 100 marks
- General English -100 marks
- Law of Evidence and Procedure – 150 marks
The Law of Evidence and Procedure consisting the following papers: Indian Evidence Act, 1872, * Civil Procedure Code 1908, *Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996, * Code of Criminal Procedure Code 1973, * Provincial Small Cause Courts Act 1887.
There will be a choice of Optional Papers, from which , candidates have to select three:
- Constitutional and Administrative Law of India -150 marks
- Hindu Law and Muhammadan Law – 150 marks
- Law of Transfer of Property, Principles of Equity, Law of Trust and Specific Relief Act – 150 marks
- Law of Contracts and Torts – 150 marks
- Commercial Law – 150 marks
commercial Law consisting the following papers: Sale of Goods Act , Negotiable Instruments Act, Company Law, Partnership Act.
VIVA-VOICE/INTERVIEW
The personal interview is of 100 marks . Final merit list prepared by adding the marks obtained by a candidate in the mains exam.
